About The Syzygy Theatre Group
syzygy - (siz' I je): the alignment of three heavenly bodies, as in an eclipse.
Mission Statement
The Syzygy Theatre Group's mission is to create enriching and thought-provoking professional art in which the rewards and responsibilities are shared through an alignment of the audience, the playwright, and the producing artists.
Goal Statement
Our goals are to maintain a resident artistic ensemble, broaden and diversify local audiences, form an art-share relationship with an un-served American community, and produce works that continue the theatre's rich tradition, reflect on the theatre's role in a contemporary society, anticipate and embrace the theatre's future.
Membership
Syzygy has an ensemble of approximately 36 actors, directors, designers, and board members. We are a non-dues paying company and have a "no-requirements" policy. In addition, we are striving to create a resident, salaried ensemble, and to that end currently produce under an LOA agreement with Actors Equity Association for all productions. In an effort to strengthen a consistent ensemble we limit membership and do not hold auditions to join the ensemble. We do, however, have an open door casting policy and regularly cast outside the ensemble. We hold open auditions and interviews for all productions. Ensemble membership is extended on a case-by-case basis to artists we work with based on current ensemble membership and Syzygy's needs. If you are interested in membership, we encourage you to continue your efforts to get involved through auditions and participation in other events; get to know us, and give us the opportunity to know you.
